Why this worksheet exists
The FCA published CP26/22, Simplifying the insurance rules, on 29 June 2026. For brokers it touches three things already in your compliance folder: your professional indemnity insurance minimums, your customer disclosure pack, and your record-keeping in ICOBS 6B.
The headline change is denominational, not substantive. The FCA proposes moving minimum PII levels from euros to pounds at a fixed rate, without reviewing the underlying cover. The proposed figures are £1,110,000 per claim and £1,650,000 in aggregate, set out in MIPRU 3.2.7R. Firms that respond before 4 September 2026 shape what simplified means. Firms that ignore it implement whatever lands.
What is inside
Eight working sections, built for a broker to run with their compliance lead and PI broker. Most firms complete the first sweep in a single focused session.
01
What to read
A reading map for the paper: what to open, what to skim, what to skip, so you do not drown in a long consultation.
02
Your PI certificate and record of cover
Lay your current PI certificate next to the proposed MIPRU 3.2.7R sterling minimums and check your limits read correctly.
03
Your customer disclosure pack
Audit your disclosures against the ICOBS changes: what to trim, what to keep, what to move to digital channels.
04
Your record-keeping (ICOBS 6B)
Find the stale references to the decommissioned GI Pricing Attestation that CP26/22 quietly removes from ICOBS 6B.2.57R.
05
Respond before the deadline
Decide your consultation position, who drafts the response, and by when, ahead of the 4 September 2026 close.
06
Action log
Every gap and action from the sweep lands here with one owner, one date, one status.
07
Self-score
Score five pillars out of 10 and total to 50, with banded verdicts on how ready your file is for the final rules.
